About the position

The Audio Visual (AV) Support Engineer I at Amazon will play a crucial role in providing in-person service and support to Amazonians utilizing AV/VC systems for various events, meetings, and other needs. This position requires a strong understanding of the diverse AV standards deployed at Amazon, enabling the engineer to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues effectively. The AV Support Engineer will collaborate closely with on-premise IT technicians, contractors, and integrators to ensure seamless operation of AV systems, particularly in high-demand environments such as large conference rooms, training rooms, and executive spaces. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for conducting on-site room checks and troubleshooting AV systems, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally. They will work directly with customers to understand their requirements and provide support for small events held in training rooms and open spaces. The engineer will also communicate with internal teams, manufacturers, and vendors to arrange repairs or replacements for faulty equipment, while managing local inventory effectively. The successful candidate will be customer-focused and motivated by team success, demonstrating strong initiative and a genuine curiosity to learn. They will need to adapt quickly to new processes and procedures while managing a high volume of urgent requests. The role may involve some domestic travel and daily travel between sites in the Seattle/Bellevue area, and candidates must be able to lift or carry equipment weighing up to 25lbs as needed. Occasional after-hours work may also be required, making flexibility an essential trait for this position.

Responsibilities

  • On-site room checks and troubleshooting of AV systems, particularly complex integrated systems such as large conference rooms, training rooms, executive rooms and bespoke or legacy systems.
  • Work closely with customers to understand requirements, setup and support small events inside training rooms and open spaces.
  • Collaborate with on-premise IT technicians, contractors and integrators for troubleshooting, repair procedures and acceptance testing.
  • Communicate with internal teams, manufacturers and vendors to arrange repair or RMA of faulty equipment and manage local inventory.
  • Work closely with partner teams including AV hardware deployment, AV Escalation and MeetEx, Event Productions to drive continuous improvement of the customer experience.
  • Maintain communication with customers and stakeholders, informing them of incident progress via thorough ticket documentation and the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate on technical documentation and SOPs, incorporating field learnings and customer feedback.
  • Travel domestically and between sites in the Seattle/Bellevue area as required.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the AV sector with a proven record of effectively commissioning, configuring, troubleshooting or installing corporate AV systems.
  • Experience working with AV technologies such as Extron, Crestron, BiAmp, Cisco, Shure and Poly; control systems, DTP systems, matrix switchers, extenders and audio DSPs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and diagnosis skills with a strong understanding of signal flow.
  • Experience with network technology including video and audio over IP (e.g. Dante/AES).
  • Ability to establish and build healthy working relationships and partnerships with peers, customers, vendors and suppliers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills with attention to detail.
