Newcomb & Boyd, a multi-discipline engineering firm located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a mid-level Audio-Visual Systems Designer. This role is pivotal in designing innovative audio-visual systems that enhance the functionality and aesthetic of various buildings. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Consultant and will be involved in projects that have a significant positive impact on society, including research labs, smart classrooms, and healthcare facilities. The Audio-Visual Systems Designer will be responsible for designing complex AV systems, which includes creating detailed signal flow diagrams, bill of materials lists, and specifications. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, as the designer will create infrastructure drawings and coordinate AV system requirements with the building's infrastructure. The position also involves defining electrical, mechanical, telecom, and architectural requirements that support the designed AV systems, ensuring that all design efforts are closely coordinated with in-house disciplines, architectural clients, and building owners. Responsibilities

  • Design complex AV systems including detailed signal flow diagrams, bill of materials lists, and specifications.
  • Create signal flow diagrams in AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate AV system requirements with building infrastructure.
  • Create infrastructure drawings in Revit including floor plans, RCPs, section views, elevations, and details.
  • Define electrical, mechanical, telecom, and architectural requirements that support designed AV systems.
  • Coordinate design efforts working closely with in-house disciplines, architectural clients, and building owners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 4-7 years experience in the audio-visual consulting or integration business or related industries (corporate, education, or broadcast).
  • Demonstrates proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ability to generate a full technical design document set from a program narrative.
  • Possess a solid technical base with a desire to learn, lead, and grow into Senior Engineer and Project Management positions.
  • Prioritizes effectively, has good follow-through, and practices self-implemented quality control measures.
  • Ability to communicate well in writing, as well as verbally.

Nice-to-haves

  • CTS certification (CTS-I or CTS-D or AQAV CQD) is a plus.
  • Prior Revit experience strongly preferred.
  • Theatrical systems or live audio-visual management experience is a plus.
