About the position

As an Audio Visual Systems Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of our clients. Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining state-of-the-art audio-visual (AV) systems that enhance user experience and operational efficiency. You will work closely with both on-site and remote users to ensure optimal performance of AV equipment, coordinate upgrades, and provide expert support across a wide range of audio-visual technologies. Your contributions will not only ensure that today is safe but also that tomorrow is smarter, as you help support our intelligence customers in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, VA. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the design and implementation of AV systems such as video conferencing, digital signage, and presentation systems. You will install, configure, and maintain AV equipment including projectors, displays, sound systems, and control systems. Troubleshooting and resolving complex AV issues in a timely manner will be a key part of your role, as will managing AV network infrastructure and ensuring seamless integration with existing IT systems. You will also plan and execute AV system upgrades and migrations, provide training to end-users on AV equipment operation, and develop and maintain documentation for AV system configurations and processes. Collaboration with IT teams will be essential to ensure that AV systems align with the overall technology strategy of the organization. You will manage the inventory of AV equipment and coordinate with vendors for procurement and maintenance, while also ensuring that all AV systems comply with security protocols and accessibility standards. Staying current with emerging AV technologies and recommending improvements to existing systems will be part of your ongoing responsibilities, ensuring that GDIT remains at the forefront of AV solutions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Visual Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in AV systems design, installation, and maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of AV technologies including video conferencing, digital signal processing, and control systems
  • Experience with AV network protocols and IP-based AV systems
  • Proficiency in AV system design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex AV issues
  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support for critical AV systems

Nice-to-haves

  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification
  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, or AMX control systems
  • Knowledge of acoustics and audio system design
  • Familiarity with HDCP, EDID, and other video standards
  • Experience with digital signal processors (DSPs) and audio networking protocols
  • Understanding of AV over IP technologies
  • Familiarity with AV security best practices and compliance requirements
