About the position

The Audiologist position within the U.S. Government involves providing comprehensive audiology services, including assessment and treatment of auditory and vestibular disorders. The role requires direct patient care, including the diagnosis of hearing disorders, fitting of hearing aids, and counseling for hearing-impaired veterans and their families. The audiologist will also design and implement patient-centered treatment plans and serve as a consultant on hearing and balance disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of audiology services including assessment of auditory and vestibular disorders.
  • Provide direct patient care involving audiology and balance evaluation and treatment services.
  • Diagnose hearing disorders and select and fit hearing aids and other amplification devices.
  • Conduct aural rehabilitation and counsel hearing-impaired veterans and their families.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor patient-centered treatment strategies for hearing and vestibular disorders.
  • Design and implement rehabilitation programs for tinnitus and vestibular disorders.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with facility policy and stay current with developments in audiology.
  • Attend staff meetings and interdisciplinary health care team meetings as required.
  • Provide orientation and training for clinical staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Audiology (AUD) from an accredited program or a related doctoral degree in hearing science.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice audiology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
