The Audiologist position at Northwell Health involves performing comprehensive audiological evaluations for patients of all ages, including specialized assessments. The role focuses on ensuring the proper fit of amplification devices, providing rehabilitative services, and counseling patients and their families regarding hearing health.

Responsibilities

• Administers examinations including detailed questionnaires and a battery of tests to evaluate auditory and vestibular systems.
• Reads, interprets, prepares, and sends tracings to referring physicians.
• Prepares reports on diagnostic findings and ensures appropriate and confidential distribution of reports.
• Administers a wide variety of audiological tests to determine patients' hearing levels and potential sites of damage to the auditory system.
• Anticipates the degree of social disability due to hearing loss and predicts potential benefits of hearing aid use and/or special training.
• Counsels patients and families regarding testing results and recommendations.
• Confers with medical staff regarding audiological and vestibular problems and makes recommendations for patient referral and management.
• Schedules and provides cochlear implant services when applicable.
• Monitors inventory and initiates replacement orders to maintain operating supply levels; ensures proper storage of supplies.
• Provides didactic and practical in-service training to residents, medical students, and other hospital staff.
• Participates in research, conferences, and meetings.

Requirements

• Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current License to practice as an Audiologist in New York State.
• Current Clinical Competence - AUD (ASHA) Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
