About the position

The Audiovisual Equipment Technician at GDIT is responsible for setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment, as well as conference room computers and AV peripherals. This role supports the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) by ensuring high-quality audiovisual experiences during meetings and presentations, and involves close coordination with meeting organizers and users.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and install AV equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, and recording equipment.
  • Operate video and sound equipment during meetings and presentations.
  • Monitor sound and video feeds to ensure quality and uninterrupted flow of meetings.
  • Maintain and update AV equipment and conference room computers with necessary patches and updates.
  • Conduct physical weekly inspections of AV and conference room equipment and provide reports on testing results.
  • Fix malfunctioning equipment or escalate service requests to vendors as needed.
  • Attend FERC hearings and meetings to provide technical support.
  • Coordinate with client representatives and third-party vendors for service calls and warranty repairs.
  • Maintain inventory of AV equipment and peripherals.
  • Monitor ticketing system for AV meeting requests.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in audiovisual equipment and support.
  • Experience with Crestron, Cisco, Extron, SMART Technologies, and Polycom equipment.
  • Proficiency in virtual meeting platforms such as Webex, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Strong customer service skills and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinking skills for troubleshooting AV issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret Visio line drawings for signal flow visualization.
  • Experience in planning and executing maintenance on AV systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any AV or vendor-specific training and certification (e.g., Crestron) is highly desirable.
