About the position

The Audit Business Intelligence Analyst Senior at the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) is responsible for conducting advanced data analysis and research to identify issues related to TRS participants and operations. This role involves utilizing data analytics techniques to improve the performance of TRS operations, particularly in areas such as pension benefits, healthcare, and financial operations. The position requires collaboration with the Internal Audit team and other agency employees, and it is a hybrid role requiring onsite work in Austin, Texas, approximately two to three times a week.

Responsibilities

• Employ data analytics techniques through programming (i.e. SQL, SAS, R, Python) to analyze relevant data file structures.
• Oversee and analyze data for quality, errors, inconsistencies, and compliance issues.
• Research and evaluate current business operations and develop improvements.
• Perform data mining and analysis in support of various operational areas.
• Identify data gaps, errors, and inconsistencies and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Prepare technical reports to present and interpret data and make recommendations.
• Engage with internal and external customers to identify business needs.
• Train others in database queries and data analytic tools.
• Analyze the impact of new legislation on TRS programs.
• Lead and participate in special projects and task forces.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in data analytics, computer science, information systems, business administration, statistics, or a related field.
• Six years of full-time experience in data analysis, auditing, or financial analysis.
• Two years of experience in lead or project management.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience analyzing data related to health insurance claims or pension administration.
• Experience with SAS, ACL, SQL, PowerBI, and Tableau.
• Certification related to data analysis or information technology.
