The Audit Director for Enterprise and Operational Risk at American Express will lead a team of auditors to assess the effectiveness of controls and compliance with risk management policies and regulatory requirements. This role is pivotal in executing the annual audit plan and engaging with regulatory bodies, ensuring that the organization effectively manages its risk landscape.

  • Lead a team of 2-5 auditors in assessing the effectiveness of controls and compliance with ERM and ORM policies.
  • Support the execution of the annual Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Risk Management audit plan.
  • Align audit results with second line leadership and participate in risk management interactions with regulatory bodies.
  • Validate high-risk issues and corrective actions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop less experienced colleagues in audit methodology and best practices.
  • Articulate risk insights to stakeholders and interact with regulators and senior management.
  • Analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
  • 7+ years of experience in regulatory requirements and Risk Management Framework for large financial institutions.
  • Proven experience validating high-risk issues and corrective actions.
  • Understanding of critical enterprise and operational risk management lifecycle activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for delivering actionable feedback to management.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and provide quality review across deliverables.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex risk issues and adapt to evolving risk landscapes.
  • 5 years of experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), or Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications.
