About the position

KPMG is seeking an Audit Intern to join their Audit Services team for Summer 2026. This internship is designed for early career candidates currently pursuing a degree in accounting or a related field. The role involves assisting in financial statement audits, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information, and supporting the use of data analytics in audit processes. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while contributing to the effectiveness of client operations and maintaining high standards of integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial statement audits as part of a team, ensuring accuracy and reliability of client financial information.
  • Prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation regarding client processes and technology systems.
  • Execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances under guidance.
  • Support the execution of high-quality audits through assigned tasks and professional interactions with clients and engagement teams.
  • Utilize data analytics tools and technologies, including AI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI, to perform substantive audit procedures.
  • Act with integrity and professionalism to uphold KPMG's respectful work environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent program.
  • Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the state of the office location.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, including generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to navigate various computer applications, especially MS Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset and strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx or Power BI.
  • Leadership experience and project management skills.
