About the position

The Audit & Assurance Manager at Brixey & Meyer is responsible for managing client relationships and supervising audit and assurance teams. This role requires a focus on delivering high-quality work, maintaining clear communication with clients, and supporting various firm service lines as needed. The position emphasizes leadership, integrity, and accountability while fostering a positive work environment and driving business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate positive client relationships through clear communication and innovative recommendations.
  • Lead and manage audit and assurance teams to deliver high-quality work and meet deadlines.
  • Identify and develop new leads and contacts for the firm, recognizing opportunities for additional services.
  • Take ownership of engagement profitability, including efficient billing and collections.
  • Provide timely and accurate formal quotes and proposals for engagements and projects.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, providing clear direction and resolving issues promptly.
  • Inspire the team to exceed client and firm expectations through integrity and accountability.
  • Engage in business development activities to foster relationships with clients.
  • Manage multiple responsibilities and strategically plan workflows independently.
  • Resolve team member issues that hinder successful completion of engagements and projects.
  • Monitor deadlines and communicate scheduling needs for proper resource allocation.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback to team members on their performance.
  • Set clear performance and goal expectations for team members.
  • Manage work in progress (WIP) efficiently to maintain project momentum.
  • Communicate changes in accounting methodologies to the team effectively.
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures, including time entry and billing.
  • Actively participate in firm activities to attract and retain high-performing individuals.
  • Champion the firm's reputation in the community and through professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of public accounting or equivalent industry experience
  • CPA certification in good standing
  • Advanced computer literacy, including proficient use of Microsoft Office products
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Proven leadership qualities in managing others, including internal team members and external client relationships
  • Demonstrated excellence in client relationship management
  • Proven interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal and external team members
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Skills with investigating and analyzing source materials
