About the position

The Audit Manager at MHCS is responsible for overseeing multiple client engagements in a public accounting environment. This role requires a self-starting individual with significant experience in audit management, providing training and guidance to staff, and ensuring client satisfaction through effective communication and project management. The position emphasizes professional development, work/life balance, and opportunities for advancement within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple client engagements including performing first or second level review while providing relevant and timely feedback to staff, seniors, and supervisors.
  • Research technical accounting and auditing topics as they arise.
  • Collaborate with audit shareholders and audit seniors to plan objectives and determine an audit strategy that appropriately addresses risk.
  • Successfully monitor the audit engagement team against both the original audit plan and the budget and alter if necessary.
  • Consistently apply effective project management skills in order to plan and coordinate multiple engagements.
  • Lead training development and provide training to supervisors, seniors, and associates.
  • Make recommendations on business and process improvements and serve as a business advisor to clients.
  • Participate in and potentially lead assurance department meetings and team with Shareholders on proposals and business development initiatives.
  • Remain abreast of accounting standards through professional development, networking events, and training seminars.
  • Develop professional client relationships and maintain communication to ensure satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of recent public accounting audit experience in FASB or Commercial and Not-for-Profit experience is desired, with a progression in complexity, scope, and number of projects.
  • CPA license required.
  • Positive attitude and sound judgment with strong communication, organizational, analytical, and technical skills including Word, Excel, and accounting software proficiency.
  • Ability to effectively train staff, meet deadlines, recognize issues and propose solutions, manage engagements to budget, and work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
