About the position

Alexander & Company CPA's PSC, one of the oldest public accounting firms in Kentucky, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary and is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Auditor position in our Owensboro, Kentucky office. As an Audit Senior, you will be responsible for designing and executing audit procedures tailored to the client's business, the risks it faces, and its internal control processes. In this position, you will work independently while also collaborating with a diverse group of talented audit professionals. Your responsibilities will include assigning audit sections to staff, performing administrative requirements of engagements, and completing entire audit engagements, including workpapers and financial statement drafts. You will be expected to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision while meeting budgets and deadlines. Additionally, you will handle all types of client engagements appropriate for a senior level, delegating tasks as appropriate and conducting necessary research to identify problems early in the engagement process. The role requires effective communication and leadership skills, as you will be responsible for distributing tasks fairly among team members based on their individual competencies and workload. You will provide employees with the necessary training and resources to succeed, communicate clear performance expectations, and inspire and motivate team members to perform optimally. Your ability to coach team members effectively will be crucial in improving their job skills and resolving any internal conflicts that may arise.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute audit procedures based on the client's business and risks.
  • Assign audit sections to staff and perform administrative requirements of engagements.
  • Complete entire audit engagements, including workpapers and financial statement drafts.
  • Work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision while meeting budgets and deadlines.
  • Handle all types of client engagements appropriate for senior level efficiently, timely, and professionally.
  • Delegate tasks as appropriate and conduct necessary research.
  • Identify problems early in the engagement process and manage business correspondence.
  • Communicate clear performance expectations and standards to team members.

Requirements

  • CPA Certification or eligible and actively pursuing certification.
  • 3-5 years of relevant audit experience in a similar public accounting firm position.
  • Proven financial, analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent client service and demonstrated business development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage engagements, prioritize engagements, and supervise/motivate staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
