About the position

The Auditor 4 position within the Bureau of Fire Relief Audits at the Department of the Auditor General is responsible for ensuring that Volunteer Firefighters' Relief Associations (VFRFAs) funds are utilized in compliance with state law. This role involves auditing financial records, providing mentorship to audit staff, and making decisions within the established audit program. The position offers the opportunity to contribute positively to the community and is eligible for student loan forgiveness, along with comprehensive health and retirement benefits.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that Volunteer Firefighters' Relief Associations (VFRFAs) funds are spent according to state law.
• Research, learn, and apply laws, regulations, guidelines, and auditing standards.
• Locate, evaluate, and analyze records and other information related to audits.
• Create, input, access, and retrieve data including audit work papers and findings.
• Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to audit staff.
• Make non-policy making decisions within the established audit program.

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited college or university with at least 12 credits in accounting/auditing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting or auditing.
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
