About the position

The Executive Assistant position is located within the Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Audit, specifically in the Readiness and Global Operations Directorate. This role is pivotal as it serves as an advisor to Directorate leadership, overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of both internal and external issues, projects, and assignments that are of special interest or priority to the Directorate. The Executive Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the leadership is well-informed and prepared to address various tasks and challenges that arise within the agency's operations. In this capacity, the Executive Assistant coordinates and responds to Directorate and Division level issues and taskers, ensuring timely receipt of information to meet Agency, Audit, or Directorate suspense dates. The role also involves representing the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy as assigned, accomplishing objectives in alignment with the AIG and Deputy's overall views. A critical aspect of this position is to ensure that the AIG and Deputy are aware of issues that warrant their attention, thereby facilitating effective decision-making. Additionally, the Executive Assistant oversees the development of briefing materials and analyzes products for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of presentation for the target audience. This includes coordinating the review of Directorate written products with the Audit and IG front offices, as well as the support division, to execute and ensure report issuance in accordance with OIG and Audit requirements. The position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and respond to Directorate and Division level issues and taskers to ensure timely receipt of information.
  • Represent the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy as assigned and accomplish objectives in alignment with their views.
  • Ensure the AIG and Deputy are aware of issues warranting their attention.
  • Oversee the development of briefing materials and analyze products for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate review of Directorate written products with the Audit and IG front offices to ensure compliance with OIG and Audit requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a Secret Level security clearance.
  • Degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration, or accounting, or a combination of education and experience in performance auditing.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that provides professional auditing knowledge.
  • Experience in prioritizing tasks, informing others of milestones, monitoring project status, and adhering to deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in analyzing information, drawing conclusions, and recommending corrective actions as required.
  • Experience ensuring quality standards are met and providing advice on work methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant obtained through written examination.
  • Completion of substantial coursework in auditing or accounting.
