About the position

The OIG Auditor is a mid-level audit professional responsible for performing moderate to complex audit assignments under the supervision of an Audit Supervisor. This role ensures the reliability and integrity of information, efficient resource use, and compliance with laws and regulations. OIG Auditors assess internal controls, conduct audits, and may lead small teams in audit projects, providing forensic accounting assistance and collaborating with oversight specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Develop audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risks and project objectives under supervision.
  • Conduct entrance/exit conferences and interim progress meetings with auditees to discuss objectives and results.
  • Ensure timely progress and conclusion of fieldwork.
  • Prepare audit documentation supporting report findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Write audit reports including findings and recommendations.
  • Keep the Audit Supervisor and management informed of work progress and results.
  • Evaluate auditee responses to findings and perform additional fieldwork as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly utilization reports and other progress updates for management.
  • Contribute to the annual audit planning process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • At least three years of professional auditing or related experience.
  • Professional certification as a CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, or CIGA preferred.
  • Master's degree in accounting or other business discipline preferred.

  • Knowledge of applicable audit and accounting standards.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Understanding of risk assessment and control concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Experience with information technology in business processes.
  • Proficiency in benchmarking to identify best practices.
