About the position

The Auditor plays a crucial role in conducting audits across various projects, assisting in risk assessments, continuous auditing, and remediation validations under the supervision of a Lead Auditor or Manager. This position emphasizes adherence to professional standards and methodologies while promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in audits by executing assigned tasks in accordance with the Division's methodology and professional standards.
  • Complete work within established timeframes with guidance from a Lead Auditor or Manager.
  • Conduct effective walkthroughs, accurately identifying risks and controls within the process, and design and execute effective testing approaches with guidance.
  • Conduct effective root cause analysis of identified findings with guidance from a Lead Auditor or Manager.
  • Actively participate in meetings with business management and provide updates on respective areas of testing.
  • Participate in other assurance activities under the supervision of a Lead Auditor or Manager, utilizing modernized assurance methodologies and tools.
  • Document work, including findings, in a clear and concise manner in accordance with the Division's methodology.
  • Embrace innovative change and effectively incorporate data analytics.
  • Actively seek knowledge in assigned audit activities.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and issues raised by external regulators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a combined minimum of 4 years higher education and/or work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to challenge the status quo and defend conclusions when challenged.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Technology, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related technical field.
  • MBA or Master's degree in an appropriate field.
  • Related professional certifications.
  • Financial Services experience.
