About the position

The Autism Center Special Education Teacher at Rocky Mountain Prep is responsible for identifying and addressing the needs of students with special education requirements. This role involves creating and implementing Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs), maintaining a productive learning environment, and collaborating with general education teachers and other professionals to support student success. The teacher will also manage a caseload of special education scholars, ensuring that their educational needs are met through tailored instruction and support.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach daily student interventions, providing individualized instruction based on scholar needs in multiple content areas.
  • Track data daily to inform the instructional needs of scholars.
  • Analyze scholar data and use it to provide scholar feedback and set IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school leaders, service providers, and families to ensure that instruction meets the needs of each learner.
  • Case manage the IEPs of scholars on the caseload, including FBAs, BIPs, and scheduling IEP meetings.
  • Create and implement IEPs and evaluations that meet CDE quality standards for Special education.
  • Consistently track and progress monitor IEP goals.
  • Support accommodations and modifications implementation across the educational environment.
  • Utilize strong time management and organizational skills to support a variety of student levels and needs.
  • Demonstrate ability to write quality IEPs, including a summary of student performance, goals, and benchmarks based on assessments and needs.
  • Coach 1-1 Teaching Assistants if there are scholars on the caseload that require 1-1 support.
  • Manage and lead a team of Teaching Assistants in providing one-on-one instructional and behavioral support to center-based scholars.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree (any subject).
  • Current Colorado teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
  • Pass a background check.
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum two years of lead teaching experience.
  • History of working with special needs populations.
  • Understand ABC data collection.
  • History of case management.
  • CPI/NCI Trained.
