About the position
The Auto Body Technician at Gerber Collision & Glass is responsible for providing exceptional customer service through the meticulous assessment and quality repair of vehicles. This role involves disassembling, repairing, and reassembling vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition, while ensuring alignment with the company's goals of speed, quality, and customer excellence. The technician plays a crucial role in achieving the repair facility's KPIs and acts as a Brand Ambassador for The Boyd Group.
Responsibilities
- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan the repair work necessary and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when necessary.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Weld and fit parts into place, preparing and repainting vehicles with factory-specified paint or equivalent.
- Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers in an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
