About the position

The AutoCad Drafter position at Quest Global involves preparing a variety of engineering drawings, revising existing drawings, and maintaining parts lists. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating detailed dimensioned drawings that accurately document the components of mechanical products, ensuring that all drawings comply with aerospace industry standards and the specific drafting and manufacturing standards set by Collins. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical product details, assemblies, and outlines, as well as the ability to apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) methodologies effectively. Drafters in this position will engage in model creation, view depiction, and the generation of proper nomenclature. They must be adept at understanding the function of each part and its relationship within the assembly, which is crucial for creating accurate documentation. The role also involves updating detail drawings throughout various review cycles based on engineering input and implementing changes as per engineering requests. The candidate will work closely with customer product definition and engineering support groups, ensuring that all documentation is consistent with established practices and customer norms. In addition to technical skills, the position requires a commitment to quality and accuracy, as the drawings produced will support the manufacture of individual parts and the assembly of the final product. The Drafter will utilize software tools in a manner that promotes consistency and reduces complexity in models and drawings, contributing to efficient revision processes and overall project success.

Responsibilities

  • Create dimensioned detail drawings compliant with aerospace industry standards and Collins' drafting and manufacturing standards.
  • Dimension detail drawings ensuring they are accurate, complete, and dimensioned to support program requirements and tolerance build up analysis.
  • Update detail drawings throughout the various review cycles per engineering input.
  • Implement drawing updates as per engineering change requests.
  • Execute customer Standard Work using Design Standard Features and Design Guidebook as appropriate to complete the task.
  • Work with customer product definition and engineering support groups and coordinate assistance as required.
  • Use software in recommended methods which promotes consistency for ease of revision and reduction in model/drawing complexity.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • AutoCad/Solid Works Experience.
  • Understanding of basic GD&T drawing practices, along with the tolerance analysis of assembly and piece parts.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electronic principles and demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting models, assembly, and piece part drawings.
  • Experience in a design and drafting environment developing electrical or mechanical products.
  • A working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and general computer literacy.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
