About the position

The AutoCAD Drafter position at Actalent involves creating precise drawings based on customer architectural and mechanical plans using CAD software. The role requires a solid understanding of drafting fundamentals and the ability to interpret specifications and quotations from customers. The drafter will collaborate closely with engineers and experienced staff to ensure accuracy and adherence to established drafting standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret customer architectural and mechanical plans.
• Use CAD software to create precise drawings for customer and manufacturing processes.
• Produce drawings based on designs and sketches from engineers or more experienced staff.
• Understand and incorporate customer requirements from quotations and specifications.
• Apply drafting fundamentals, including orthographic views, standard dimensioning practices, and scaling.
• Work with both English and metric units of measure.
• Check dimensions of parts, document materials to be used, and verify form, fit, and function of parts in assemblies.
• Follow directions and learn the company's drafting standards.
• Develop a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, machines, and various building materials.

Requirements

• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience in drafting and CAD design
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical plans
• Knowledge of drafting fundamentals including orthographic views, standard dimensioning practices, and scaling
• Familiarity with English and metric units of measure

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Revit
• Knowledge of sheet metal, blueprint reading, and architecture
• Skills in 2D AutoCAD and 2D design
• Experience in mechanical design
• Familiarity with dampers and louvers
