About the position

The Auto Damage Appraiser is responsible for re-inspecting physical damage estimates on vehicles for customers utilizing the Door-to-Door Repair network shops. This role emphasizes high-level customer service and oversight of DTD shops in the Massachusetts region, ensuring compliance with state regulations and maintaining production standards. The position requires fieldwork primarily in the North Shore area of Massachusetts, with a focus on effective communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Survey damages, prepare estimates, and negotiate settlements for partial and total losses.
• Issue drafts to the appropriate parties involved in the claims process.
• Document the claim file as necessary to maintain accurate records.
• Complete re-inspections and supplements in a timely manner, adhering to Massachusetts state regulations.
• Act as a liaison to Body Shops within the DTD network.
• Ensure compliance with production standards and estimating guidelines.
• Maintain service quality, expense control, and public relations at all times.
• Complete reports on recovered theft and fire assignments as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to team objectives.
• Assist in handling catastrophic claims when requested, which may involve overnight travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred or a minimum of 5 years of auto claims appraisal experience.
• Valid driver's license with a favorable driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to inspect vehicles in various conditions.
• Organizational skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Solid communication and negotiation skills.
• MA State Appraiser License required.

Nice-to-haves

• Body shop experience is a plus but not required.
