About the position

The Auto/Diesel Tech I position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles and heavy equipment. This role requires a combination of technical skills and hands-on experience to ensure the proper functioning of mechanical systems and components. The technician will work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and may be required to respond to service calls and assist in field repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Conduct diagnostics using scan tools and laptop computers.
• Repair and maintain air conditioning systems for various vehicle types.
• Execute major and minor mechanical repairs, including pumps, radiators, and batteries.
• Operate hand, power, and shop tools effectively.
• Use machinery such as tire balancing and mounting machines.
• Maintain cleanliness of shop facilities and equipment.
• Respond to service calls and assist in field repairs as needed.
• Assist in locating mechanical parts for repairs.
• Transport vehicles and equipment to different locations.
• Collaborate with vendors and technical staff.
• Perform vehicle inspections as required by the State of Texas.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
• Complete special duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of vehicle and equipment maintenance experience.
• Experience with scan tools, shop gauges, and welding.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Basic computer skills including email and data entry.
• Must provide own hand tools.
• Valid state C driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Nice-to-haves

• State Vehicle Inspector License (to be obtained within six months of employment).
• Two OEM certifications or two ASE certifications (to be obtained within six months of employment).
