About the position

The Claim Rep Trainee position at Travelers Insurance is an entry-level role designed to develop skills in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving auto insurance claims of lesser value and complexity. The position involves comprehensive training and mentorship to ensure quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle, while maintaining compliance with internal and external standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in ongoing training sessions for the Auto Express business.
  • Works closely with Unit Manager or mentor to promptly resolve assigned claims.
  • Delivers consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact and ongoing communication.
  • Reviews and analyzes low complexity coverage and applies policy conditions for Auto Damage claims.
  • Investigates each claim to obtain relevant facts necessary to determine coverage and liability.
  • Maintains oversight of the repair process and ensures appropriate expense handling.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate claim and expense reserves.
  • Determines settlement amounts based on appraisal estimates and applicable limits.
  • Communicates claim settlements within authority limits to insureds and claimants.
  • Acquires and maintains necessary Insurance License(s) as required by state and Travelers requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience OR Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or a minimum of 2 years of work or customer service related experience.
