About the position

The Auto Express Claim Representative Trainee position at Travelers is an entry-level role designed to develop skills in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving claims of lesser value and complexity. The trainee will undergo on-the-job training and is expected to provide quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle while maintaining compliance with internal and external standards. This role is crucial for ensuring customer satisfaction and effective claims management.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in ongoing training sessions for the Auto Express business.
  • Works closely with Unit Manager or mentor to promptly resolve assigned claims.
  • Delivers consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact and ongoing communication.
  • Reviews and analyzes low complexity coverage and applies policy conditions for Auto Damage claims.
  • Investigates each claim to obtain relevant facts necessary to determine coverage and liability.
  • Maintains oversight of the repair process and ensures appropriate expense handling.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate claim and expense reserves.
  • Determines settlement amounts based on appraisal estimates and applicable limits.
  • Conveys claim settlements within authority limits to insureds and claimants.
  • Acquires and maintains necessary Insurance License(s) within three months of starting the job.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience OR Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or a minimum of 2 years of work or customer service related experience.
