About the position

This entry-level position at Travelers is designed to develop skills for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving First Party Medical claims. The role involves completing a formal training program and providing quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. The position is a stepping stone to advance to a Claim Representative role.

Responsibilities

  • Completes required training program including online, virtual, classroom, and on-the-job training.
  • Participates in ongoing training sessions for the inside auto business.
  • Works closely with Unit Manager or mentor to resolve assigned claims promptly.
  • Delivers consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including customer contact and communication.
  • Reviews and analyzes coverage and applies policy conditions for assigned jurisdictions.
  • Investigates claims to obtain relevant facts necessary for coverage determination and damages assessment.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate claim and expense reserves.
  • Determines settlement amounts and negotiates claim settlements within authority limits.
  • Writes denial letters and other necessary correspondence to insureds and claimants.
  • Acquires and maintains Insurance License(s) as required by state and Travelers requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience OR Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Demonstrated ownership attitude and customer-centric response to tasks.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Attention to detail ensuring accuracy in work.
  • Intermediate keyboard skills and proficiency in Windows, including Excel and Word.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic analytical thinking and judgment/decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or a minimum of 2 years of work or customer service related experience preferred.
