About the position

The Counter Salesperson plays a crucial role in providing direct sales to customers at the Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts store. This position involves taking orders both in-person and over the phone, while also supporting the store's operations through various sales programs and customer engagement activities. The focus is primarily on aftermarket automotive replacement parts, including heavy-duty parts and body shop supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate courteous, respectful, and kind conduct toward every employee and customer.
  • Cooperate and coordinate well with coworkers and as a team member.
  • Perform job duties in compliance with legal, regulatory, and Company safety guidelines, practices, and policies.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service including assisting in determining parts needed, offering options to solve customer problems, and diffusing situations involving an upset or dissatisfied customer.
  • Research part's availability through computer and catalogs for stock numbers, inventory status, and pricing.
  • Locate and pull parts for orders, check in, put up, straighten, dust, and rearrange stock as needed on the sales floor and back rooms/warehouse.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions; properly invoice/credit customer accounts.
  • Prioritize the order of delivery items and assign deliveries to drivers, if applicable.
  • Correctly handle new and defective core returns from customers, insure proper customer credit and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Open and/or close the store if given key holder responsibility.
  • Assist in other location's inventory, if assigned.
  • Clean (pick-up trash, sweep, mop, etc.) and maintain inside and outside of building area.
  • Adhere to scheduled work time unless authorized by a manager.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills and ability to assist customers in determining parts needed.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and coordinate with coworkers.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts and aftermarket sales is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for researching parts availability and handling transactions.
  • Ability to handle cash and credit transactions accurately.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in automotive parts sales or a related field.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
