About the position

Chewy is seeking an Automated Maintenance Technician III for its Reno, NV Fulfillment Center. This role involves maintaining and repairing automated material handling equipment to ensure high equipment availability rates. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, applying preventive maintenance processes and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns to support efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of automated material handling equipment (MHE) including conveyor systems and sortation systems.
  • Use preventive and Reliability Centered Maintenance processes to ensure high equipment availability rates.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to service quickly.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and Control Systems Engineers to perform root cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of MHE on site.
  • Adjust and repair components such as scanners, cameras, and printer applicators.
  • Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment as needed.
  • Utilize handheld devices or desktop PC to create and close Work Orders with appropriate data.
  • Follow safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • PC competency and ability to use handheld devices.
  • Familiarity with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring.
  • Experience in work order management and preventive/predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Basic blueprint and schematic reading skills.
  • Basic metal fabrication and welding experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial controls and electronics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic Input/Output functions.
  • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field.
  • 3-5 years hands-on previous experience in a related field.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards.
