About The Position

The Automated Test Engineer (ATE) position at Syms Strategic Group (SSG) involves supporting a large Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide program. The role is focused on designing and implementing test automation strategies, managing test automation resources, and ensuring the quality of software through automated testing. The position is virtual and requires collaboration with multiple Scrum teams as surge requirements dictate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
• 8+ years Automated Software development and testing experience
• Experience using at least two automation tools/technologies
• Java, C# or Python development experience
• Experience developing test plans and test procedures
• Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks
• Experience working in an agile environment

Nice To Haves

• Experience with EDI and financial transaction systems
• Experience testing MUMPS, VistA and other VA systems

Responsibilities

• Electing or identifying areas/test cases for Automation
• Designing & Implementing Test Automation Strategy
• Creating Automation Test Plan and getting approvals
• Choosing selenium tools and configuring Selenium Test Environment (Ex: Eclipse IDE, Java, Selenium WebDriver and TestNG etc.)
• Creating, organizing, and managing Test Automation Resources
• Designing, developing, and executing automated tests
• Extending existing test automation frameworks and tools
• Integrating with CI/CD tools and pipeline (i.e. Jenkins)
• Triaging, troubleshooting and documenting defects
• Documenting QA procedures for the team
• Working closely with engineering and QA to manage and improve the development pipeline
• Performing and writing automated functional, system, regression, and integration testing
