About the position

The Automated Test Hardware Engineer Intern position at Shure is a summer internship designed for undergraduate and graduate students, providing hands-on experience in the design and testing of electronic and acoustical production test fixtures and systems. Interns will work under the direct supervision of a manager or mentor, contributing to the development of test plans, capabilities, and documentation while gaining practical skills in troubleshooting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing written test plans based on new product requirements and product schematics.
  • Assist in developing new test capabilities using off-the-shelf solutions, software-defined test instrumentation, or custom-designed hardware.
  • Create and maintain schematics, bills of materials, test specifications, and other necessary documentation to support test systems and fixtures.
  • Create and maintain functional test programs to automate test equipment measurements, signal path switching, and product control.
  • Provide basic electrical verification and troubleshooting of test fixtures, components, and test racks (continuity, voltages, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot measurement issues such as voltage levels, RF output power, RF and audio frequency response, RF sensitivity, and noise floor.
  • Analyze the reliability and capability of test fixtures, software, and systems using statistical tools.
  • Assist in the construction of functional test fixtures, which entails soldering wires/connectors, and populating printed circuit board components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • In-process of a bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably Junior/Senior).
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Basic troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience with common measurement instruments: DMM and Oscope.
  • Highly organized and willing to learn.
  • Able to follow standard instructions, practices, and procedures provided by mentor.
  • Self-motivated, team player, detail-oriented.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
