About the position

The Automation Account Manager is a technical sales role focused on selling factory automation solutions for a reputable design and manufacturing organization. The position requires a motivated individual with a strong technical background to identify new business opportunities and maintain relationships with existing customers, ensuring high levels of service and support. The role involves a mix of travel for customer visits and working from a home office, with a strong emphasis on technical support and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Actively call on prospective customers to assess their automation needs with a focus on new business development.
  • Support existing customers while identifying new opportunities for sales growth.
  • Communicate technical information regarding automation products and services to decision-makers.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and validate specifications for automation solutions.
  • Consult with internal resources to develop comprehensive project proposals that meet customer requirements.
  • Understand customers' business goals and manufacturing processes to tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers to identify needs and introduce HS Automation's capabilities.
  • Maintain a Customer Contact and Opportunity Database for assigned accounts.
  • Monitor sales activity reports and project annual sales goals.
  • Review customer activities quarterly with the Sales Team Leader to strategize sales growth.
  • Assist in developing technical materials and cost estimates based on client needs.
  • Deliver and present proposals and technical solutions to customers.
  • Manage customer contract negotiations and commercial items during the bid process.
  • Provide feedback to management for R&D efforts and new product development.
  • Maintain the CRM database and travel as needed for responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a business-related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering or sales role within a similar industry.
  • Sales experience in industrial automation with proven achievements.
  • Strong persuasive and closing abilities.
  • High customer focus and relationship-building skills.
  • High level of mechanical skills necessary for success.
  • Computer literacy is strongly preferred.
