About the position

The Automation and Control Engineer at JLL will play a crucial role in the maintenance and operation of building systems within commercial properties. This position involves hands-on repair and maintenance work on various systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring the Building Automation System (BAS), diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance. This role requires a proactive approach to managing preventive maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with Jones Lang LaSalle standards and guidelines. In addition to technical skills, the engineer will coordinate repairs, respond to reactive work order tickets, and manage preventive work orders. The position also involves creating purchase orders for vendors, completing reports and checklists, and communicating issues to management. Safety is a top priority, and the engineer must possess comprehensive knowledge of safe work practices, especially regarding energized work, working at heights, and confined spaces. The role also includes evaluating and training a workforce of Lead Engineers, Facility Engineers, and Maintenance Technicians as needed. The engineer will be expected to perform preventive maintenance and repair service work on HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and various other building systems to maintain properties in peak operational condition. Customer service skills are essential, as the engineer will need to assess customer needs, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate customer satisfaction. Overall, this position is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of building systems and providing a safe and efficient environment for occupants.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Building Automation System; diagnose and troubleshoot issues; adjust code as needed
  • Track building system readout
  • Adjust temperature as needed using apps
  • Coordinate repairs
  • Respond to reactive work order tickets
  • Manage preventive work orders tickets
  • Create purchase orders for vendors as needed
  • Complete reports and checklists
  • Communicate issues to Manager
  • Complete needed training
  • Comply with all safety requirements
  • Respond to after hour emergency escalation
  • Assist with projects as needed

Requirements

  • GED required; Vocational degree program or apprenticeship preferred
  • 7 years of trade experience; 10 years preferred
  • 3 years of engineering experience; 5 years preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, laws, and regulations
  • Experience with PLC and controllers programming
  • Ability to effectively use computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Skill in using the internet to navigate and use web-based applications
  • Ability to use handheld electronic devices (PDA, Blackberry, cell phone, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to create, modify, and edit processes, procedures, and reports
