About the position

At SpaceX, we are leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world's largest satellite constellation, providing fast, reliable internet to over 3 million users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, including thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that integrates everything. Our mission is to maximize Starlink's utility for communities and businesses globally, and we are looking for best-in-class engineers to join our team. As an Automation and Controls Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing full factory solutions for consumer electronics, focusing on high-volume manufacturing. You will lead creative, multi-disciplinary projects that span machine design, robotics, motion systems, and factory health monitoring. This position requires a commitment to keeping all engineering and production in-house, which enables a tight feedback loop, nimble decision-making, and speedy deliverables. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing automation projects, ensuring that our factories are safe, reliable, and efficient. Your work will involve architecting, writing, and debugging PLC code, implementing ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for various manufacturing equipment, and generating user-friendly HMI screens. You will also design electrical systems compliant with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A regulations, while managing schedules and budgets to motivate your team towards achieving project goals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited about the challenges of designing and implementing automation solutions in a cutting-edge manufacturing setting.
