About the position

The Automation and Controls Technician at RAUCH Fruchtsäfte GmbH & Co OG is responsible for maintaining and improving the safety and efficiency of manufacturing control systems. This role involves troubleshooting and modifying PLC programs, designing control systems, and supporting maintenance personnel in electrical equipment repairs. The technician will work in a dynamic environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence in a leading beverage company.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions and performing safety inspections.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot facility and manufacturing control systems consisting of PLCs, VFDs, computer controls, and HMI interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot or modify existing PLC programs and make system hardware recommendations to resolve operational problems.
  • Design control systems and prepare drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Document and maintain revisions to existing automated systems and maintain appropriate PLC and computer software/hardware information.
  • Design and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability of existing plant and manufacturing control systems.
  • Support and assist Maintenance personnel in troubleshooting, testing, modifying, and installing electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Repair critical electrical equipment and perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Read electrical drawings for conveyors, machines, and buildings.
  • Repair and maintain electrical breakdowns associated with high-speed packaging and processing machinery.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years related experience as an Automation and Controls Technician.
  • Experience with industrial equipment including PLCs, computers, and high-speed packaging and filling equipment.
  • Knowledge and skill in programming PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text, and Statement logic.
  • Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and communication protocols (Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, HART, Ethernet TCP/IP).
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in automation technology, robotics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
