About the position

We are looking for an Automation & Process Control Engineer to join our team at the Circleville, Ohio site. This role is crucial in providing automation and process control support to enhance asset effectiveness and manage major capital projects. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with research and development, manufacturing, technical personnel, project leaders, and design contractors to meet business needs through effective application of process automation and control technology. In this position, you will be responsible for troubleshooting instrumentation and controls on a day-to-day basis, identifying new opportunities for process control improvements, and conducting operability analyses to troubleshoot existing applications or develop new ones. You will also be involved in implementing and commissioning these applications, ensuring that they meet the required standards and contribute to the overall efficiency of the plant operations. The role requires strong communication skills to articulate the merits of technical improvement proposals and interpersonal skills to work effectively with plant personnel at all levels. As a self-starter, you will need to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, and demonstrate creativity and innovation in your approach. Collaboration is key, as you will be working with large teams, either as a contributor or a team leader, and you should be willing to learn quickly and expand your knowledge in related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Providing day-to-day troubleshooting assistance for instrumentation and controls.
  • Identifying new process control improvement opportunities.
  • Conducting the necessary operability analysis to troubleshoot existing or develop new process control applications.
  • Implementing and commissioning these applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in developing and commissioning process control applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Chemical Engineering principles employed in manufacturing processes.
  • Basic skills in the configuration of DCS and PLC systems.
  • Understanding of the principles of operation, reliability, and performance characteristics of instrumentation, measurements, analyzers, and control valves.
  • Experience with process safety standards (DX_S, RAGAGEP, IEC) and their application to chemical manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of the open and closed loop response characteristics of dynamic systems.
  • Experience with analyzing and designing SISO and MIMO regulatory and advanced regulatory control techniques.
  • Six sigma Green Belt/ Black Belt certified.
