About the position

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Automation Application Specialist to join our renowned Engineering team. As an Automation Application Specialist, you will have the exceptional chance to work with advanced technology and collaborate with outstanding colleagues to enhance research and foster technological innovation. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of service and support for our automation platforms, which are critical in laboratory settings. In this position, you will be responsible for performing installations, training, and validations of our automation solutions. Following the initial installation, you will provide on-site training and demonstrate the complete solution to the customer's application. Proactively following up with customers to ensure their satisfaction is a key aspect of this role. You will also provide telephone and on-site technical support for Binding site's Mass Spec instruments and assays, maintaining work records in Service Max. Additionally, you will be expected to perform technical presentations to prospective collaborators, customers, or Binding Site employees. On-call support may be required occasionally after hours, depending on departmental needs. Your role will also involve providing detailed technical support and training to customers on automation platforms, ensuring they are fully equipped to utilize our technology effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, training, and validations.
  • Provide on-site training and demonstrate the complete solution to the customer's application.
  • Proactively follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide telephone and on-site technical support for Binding site's Mass Spec instruments and assays.
  • Maintain work records in Service Max.
  • Perform technical presentations to prospective collaborators, customers or Binding Site employees.
  • Provide on-call support, occasionally after hours, as required by the department.
  • Provide detailed technical support and training to customers on automation platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a biological science required.
  • Minimum 2 years' instrumentation experience required in a laboratory or a diagnostic company.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical support field position preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience demonstrating technical product knowledge necessary to address laboratory questions preferred.
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist preferred.
  • MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and/or Liquid Handler instrument experience preferred.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to operate an automobile and good driving record required.
  • Valid passport required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a technical support field position preferred.
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist preferred.
  • MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and/or Liquid Handler instrument experience preferred.
