About the position

The XPS Foam Automation & Controls Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in collaborating with XPS Foam manufacturing facilities and other stakeholders within the XPS Foam Business. This position is responsible for executing medium to large capital delivery projects, providing essential technical support to manufacturing operations, maintenance, and process enhancements. The Engineer is expected to drive improvements in safety, productivity, and quality while effectively managing costs and ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) standards. Key responsibilities include translating operational needs into engineering calculations, specifications, scopes, estimates, and design packages. The Engineer will prepare documentation necessary for the procurement of equipment and contracts for installation, provide startup support for systems, and analyze options to maximize returns on capital investments through innovative applications of new technology. As a Subject Matter Expert on XPS Foam processes, the Engineer will maintain operational control intellectual property for XPS Foam equipment and system design, support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts, and ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) design requirements for blowing agent safety systems. Additionally, the Engineer will contribute to the maintenance spare parts strategy and define key process equipment spare parts, support research and development plant trials, product development, and pilot new equipment initiatives. This role reports to the Capital Delivery XPS Foam Engineering Leader and is based in Tallmadge, OH, with a hybrid work schedule. The position requires travel of up to 30-40% based on project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Provides electrical project management to capital projects to ensure successful design principles, on time and on budget project completion.
  • Oversees contract engineering resources to ensure design and commissioning work is being performed in a proper manner.
  • Achieves zero injuries in capital projects by ensuring safety through design and the project commissioning process.
  • Applies sound engineering practices towards the completion of improvement projects.
  • Manages capital projects from start to finish, including writing capital approval requests and ensuring requested funding aligns with project requirements.
  • Ensures timing from inception through start-up and commissioning is met in all cases.
  • Provides leadership and project management on electrical technical improvements to enhance product quality, equipment uptime, and line utilization.
  • Adheres to SAFE and Critical 6 requirements when implementing new processes.
  • Leads electrical aspects of multiple projects simultaneously by networking with engineering firms, directing scope definition, estimating costs, evaluating programming resources, and coordinating electrical resources for commissioning and startup.
  • Monitors projects for compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices and operational control requirements.
  • Utilizes effective project management techniques to lead projects, ensuring all are delivered consistent with scope and expectations around operability and costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and controls, particularly in manufacturing settings.
  • Experience with capital project execution and management.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations, including OSHA PSM requirements.
  • Ability to analyze complex engineering problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
