About the position

The Automation and Controls Engineer at EnerSys is responsible for the design, development, evaluation, and analysis of equipment for manufacturing processes. This role involves overseeing the installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and systems, ensuring they are cost-effective and efficient. The engineer will provide technical support to maintenance and operations, implement process improvements, and create detailed product and equipment drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Implements PLC, Robot, and PC controlled HMI interface logic changes
  • Provides technical support to maintenance and operations
  • Supports production with respect to throughput, safety, scrap, quality, ergonomics, and flexibility
  • Implements manufacturing process improvements
  • Coordinates electrical control equipment build, installation and training
  • Creates detailed product and equipment drawings packages
  • Checks vendor drawings for accuracy

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering or industrial technology
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in an automation engineer role
  • Ability to program and debug Allen-Bradley SLC, CompactLogix and ControlLogix platforms
  • Experience developing PLC based Ethernet communications and control
  • Experience developing HMI applications for Panelview devices
  • Ability to generate complicated schematics utilizing AutoCad drafting software
  • Ability to interpret complicated vendor supplied electrical/electronic schematics
  • Ability to justify, plan and execute capital expenditure requests
  • Ability to coordinate skilled labor teams in the performance of projects
  • Ability to interpret and apply NEC codes to an industrial facility

Nice-to-haves

  • A BS degree in electrical engineering
  • 5 years of engineering experience in a battery manufacturing facility
  • Ability to debug/troubleshoot Allen Bradley/Siemens S7 PLC programming
  • Ability to develop HMI packages with Visual Studio and Factory Talk components
  • Familiarity with Ethernet based OPC data transfer
  • Ability to debug/troubleshoot Fanuc Robot programming
  • Ability to apply DMAIC and SPC based quality principles
