About the position

Interactive Brokers is seeking a seasoned, automation-focused Database Developer with prior Oracle DBA experience to join our global Database Administration team. This hybrid role requires three days in the office and two days remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining collaboration with team members. The Database Administration team is responsible for supporting all database operations within Interactive Brokers and its subsidiaries, ensuring that our systems run smoothly and efficiently. As a Database Developer, you will be tasked with automating various processes, from database deployments to monitoring key performance indicators. Your hands-on experience with automation tools and scripting languages will be crucial in enhancing our database operations. You will work on projects as assigned, driving them to completion according to the current standards and procedures of the group. Documentation of steps taken and methods utilized in any project will be essential to maintain clarity and continuity within the team. To succeed in this role, you must be self-motivated and able to handle tasks with minimal supervision. You will need superb analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent collaboration and communication abilities. The fast-paced technology environment at Interactive Brokers requires you to be comfortable working under pressure while maintaining a high level of performance. Familiarity with tools such as Confluence and Jira will also be beneficial in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Automate database deployments and monitoring processes.
  • Support database operations within Interactive Brokers and its subsidiaries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with Perl, Python, and shell scripting skills with a focus on automation.
  • Experience with Oracle 19c or higher on Linux.
  • Experience with SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager, including supporting OEM and developing automation processes.
  • Exposure to Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM, and Oracle Multitenant is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle patching and database upgrade processes.
  • Experience with Query tuning methodologies.
  • Exposure to supporting Oracle or other DB platforms in AWS RDS and/or EC2.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ansible experience is a plus.
  • Java experience is a plus.
  • Very large database exposure is a plus.
