About the position

CORTEC is a design, manufacturing, sales and service organization specializing in flow control applications. We offer a line of equipment suited to a wide variety of uses, but excel in providing solutions to our customers' specific project needs. We are currently seeking an experienced Automation Design Engineer for our facility in Port Allen, LA. This position is responsible for the design of automation products and supervision of fabrication. The ideal candidate will work in a great location in Port Allen, just one mile south of the HWY-190 bridge, making for an easy commute to and from the Baton Rouge area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Instrument/Electrical Wiring Design
• Prepare Pneumatic/Hydraulic/Electrical Panel Design
• Provide cost estimates for automation products
• Oversee fabrication
• Test automation panels and products
• Plan, schedule and coordinate design efforts with others
• May be required to perform other related duties

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Engineering or related field; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Good grasp of fundamental industrial automation wiring and pneumatic tubing design concepts
• Experience with design of small PLC controlled systems
• Experience with design of small pneumatic and hydraulic actuation control panels
• Must have good communication skills and attention to details

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks 3D and/or Autodesk Inventor) is a plus
• Knowledge of metal fabrication concepts is a plus
• Experience with PLC programming/system configuration is a plus
