About the position

The Automation / Electrical Engineer role at Michelin involves designing and implementing equipment to enhance product and industrial performance. The engineer will manage projects related to major capital initiatives across North and South America, focusing on material handling and tire manufacturing processes. The position requires collaboration with various engineering disciplines and includes responsibilities for feasibility studies, risk management, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. After an initial site assignment, the role may require travel to different plants and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-studies to define the most efficient solutions.
  • Capture internal requirements and establish associated specification documents.
  • Implement the quality system and methods of the group, including risk analyses and design reviews.
  • Carry out feasibility studies with validated specifications and evaluate possible solutions based on costs and risks.
  • Design feasible solutions in cooperation with other business lines.
  • Obtain validations after installation and start-up phases in collaboration with related trades.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for equipment availability and compliance with regulations.
  • Demonstrate homologation, qualification, and industrial robustness of equipment.
  • Process Intellectual Property and file necessary patents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in a similar role or 5-7 years in Manufacturing Maintenance.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming on Rockwell platforms and ability to program communications between PLC platforms and Level 2 systems.
  • Outstanding technical expertise in electrical components including sensors, controls, motors, drives, and power distribution.
  • Proven project management capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC systems is a plus.
