About the position

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Automation Electrical Engineer in Fort Worth, TX to help support our Flooring business. Did you know Leggett & Platt Inc. is the largest manufacturer of carpet cushion and hard surface underlayment in the United States? Our Flooring businesses manufacture and distribute foam, rubber, and fiber-based flooring underlayment for residential and commercial use. Our flooring underlayment products provide support, cushioning, and noise reduction under virtually any finished flooring material in your home or business. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives. This person must be well-organized, analytical, and highly motivated. To be successful in this role, this person must have excellent project management skills and strong Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)/Programming experience. This position will also support other branches across the United States with their engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and document best engineering practices and methodologies
  • Replace manual tasks with automation where appropriate
  • Enhance efficiency and optimize productivity, with a focus on safety
  • Create in-process quality control standards and systems
  • Troubleshoot existing production process problems and limitations
  • Identify and execute opportunities to reduce production process costs
  • Develop production and design standards for new processes. Conduct cost analyses for management review
  • Discuss product and process standards and manufacturing capabilities with vendors for equipment purchases
  • Provide training to branch maintenance on plant upgrades

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years of PLC knowledge and background including PLC and graphic display programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Automation Direct, etc.)
  • Knowledge of power distribution, motor control centers, switchgear
  • Mechanical aptitude with AutoCAD experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in chemical or polymers industry
  • CAD/CAM experience
