About the position

As an Automation Engineer II/III/IV at Navy Federal, you will play a crucial role in implementing, maintaining, and supporting distributed intake channels, web services, and the Enterprise orchestration platform. This position requires a strong ability to consult with clients across the Enterprise, understanding and assimilating complex cross-discipline and cross-technology concepts and processes. You will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and updating reusable automations, web applications, and workflow services using various technologies including Micro Focus Operations Orchestration, PHP, .NET, and other programming languages. In this role, you will partner with various technology teams to identify and reengineer processes as they onboard to the orchestration or migrate to web applications. You will drive industry standards on continuous process improvements and design and implement highly available automation using orchestration platforms, particularly Micro Focus Operations Orchestration, in accordance with NFCU standards. Your efforts will contribute to the advancement of the orchestration platform through evaluation, engineering, and the adoption of emerging technologies and practices in the industry. You will lead initiatives to automate and orchestrate repeatable administration tasks, making necessary improvements to increase reliability and reusability. Establishing defined invocation channels that enable the order and initiation of orchestrated services will be a key responsibility, ensuring standardization, traceability, and reporting. Additionally, you will advocate for the concepts and realization of web applications and the orchestration platform within the NFCU environment, increasing readiness and adoption across technology stacks and teams. Developing thorough technical documentation, including diagrams, will also be part of your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the orchestration platform through evaluation, engineering, and adopting emerging technologies and practices
  • Lead efforts to automate and orchestrate repeatable administration tasks, improving reliability and reusability
  • Establish defined invocation channels for orchestrated services ensuring standardization, traceability, and reporting
  • Advocate for web applications and the orchestration platform within the NFCU environment
  • Develop thorough technical documentation including diagrams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
  • Strong knowledge of front-end technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming
  • Experience in development and testing of web applications
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages including Python, PHP, Java, PowerShell/PowerCLI, Perl, VBScript, Rexx, Windows batch scripting, web services, and/or web APIs
  • Experience working with Windows and Linux/Unix platforms
  • Experience with database administration (Oracle, DB2, and/or SQL Server)
  • Experience performing data analysis
  • Ability to understand and apply technical information to automation opportunities and present processes in customer-friendly terms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid understanding of ITIL principles, practices, and processes
  • Experience with PHP 8+
  • Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems
  • Experience integrating multiple data sources and databases into one system
  • Familiarity with SQL Query tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (LDAP technologies)
  • Knowledge of Java / JVM technologies
  • Experience with Microsoft IIS
  • Familiarity with current Windows Servers and managing a clustered environment

  • Understanding of networking technologies - Layer 2/Layer 3 switching and routing, F5, GSLB, Load Balancers
