About the position

The Automation Engineer III at Arseal is responsible for leading design efforts from inception through production for both new and existing projects. This role involves performing engineering design activities, calculations, and providing technical support while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary design team, guiding other engineers and interacting with clients and vendors to solve engineering challenges related to automation and controls design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform automation & controls design evaluations and complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide technical design and troubleshooting support
  • Prioritize and accomplish project goals
  • Use computer assisted design/drafting software to develop control enclosure designs
  • Prepare preliminary design proposals, engineering designs, and supporting documentation
  • Perform PLC, HMI, and simulator programming that meets all project acceptance criteria
  • Participate in engineering and general design reviews as required
  • Refine and complete designs after design review meetings
  • Interact and coordinate with designers to develop and complete designs
  • Interact with clients and vendors
  • Identify and correct potential design flaws and risks
  • Participate in and lead bid walk-down meetings
  • Provide on-site construction and commissioning support
  • Interact with vendors to specify and/or troubleshoot equipment

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in automation & controls design
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Proficient in various PLC and HMI software packages; experience with Rockwell and GE PLC and HMI programming software packages preferred
  • Experience with B&R Automation Studio preferred
