About the position

The Automation Engineer position is a long-term remote opportunity focused on Cloud Automation Engineering. The role involves developing and overseeing functional and non-functional requirements for Compute and Storage products, engaging with architects and engineers to implement modern strategies, and providing technical expertise in DevOps and CI/CD frameworks. The engineer will act as a thought leader in CI/CD pipeline technology, ensuring security practices, and maintaining knowledge in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) areas.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and refine the Platform Architecture for Compute and Storage products.
• Engage and influence architects and engineers to incorporate modern strategies.
• Participate in creating and implementing a technology framework for DevOps and CI/CD.
• Provide technical expertise to application development teams and senior technology management.
• Act as a technical innovator and strategic thought leader for CI/CD pipeline technology.
• Review and analyze solutions for security and secure coding practices.
• Design, code, test, debug, and document programs using Agile practices.
• Maintain knowledge in SRE areas like Observability, Automation, and Reliability.
• Act as a transformation agent to advance the team's DevOps capabilities.
• Develop standards and best practices for engineering complex technology solutions.
• Collaborate with peers and managers to drive design and code reviews.
• Evaluate new products and re-evaluate existing capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Cloud Automation Engineering.
• Expertise in VMWare Aria Suite.
• Expertise in Ansible or relevant automation platforms.
• Experience with OOP languages such as Java, C#, etc.
• Scripting experience with Python, Linux, etc.
• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience with a Cloud Management Platform such as VMWare Aria suite.
• 4+ years of scripting and development experience using Shell, Perl, Python, or PowerShell.
• 4+ years of formal development experience with programming languages such as Java, C#, GoLang.
• 2+ years of experience with infrastructure automation platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, or Packer.
• 2+ years of experience with GitHub and Jenkins integrations.
• 2+ years of experience with complex application solution design and oversight.
