About the position

The Automation Engineer at Verista plays a crucial role in supporting the life sciences industry by designing and implementing automation solutions for various equipment projects. This position requires a strong understanding of IT-centric systems, compliance with quality standards, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. The engineer will work independently and as part of a team to ensure that automation systems meet regulatory requirements and client specifications, contributing to the overall success of projects and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and detect issues in IT/IT-centric systems.
  • Design and implement key automation aspects of equipment projects, including PLC, vision, and HMI programming.
  • Manage general change management processes.
  • Understand and comply with client's quality standards, cGMP's, and regulatory standards.
  • Verify testing against specifications independently.
  • Support clients' change management programs, including authoring proposed changes and executing impact assessments.
  • Author, edit, and execute technical commissioning, qualification, and validation documentation.
  • Run test scripts and document results accurately.
  • Adhere to project schedules for all assigned activities.
  • Maintain clear and detailed records of qualification and validation processes.
  • Document impact and risk assessments as part of a team.
  • Design and configure PLC programs on standard equipment/products.
  • Lead and perform complex quality checks requiring an understanding of machine control systems.
  • Facilitate communication between teams to explain difficult issues and establish consensus.
  • Contribute to project completion, manage time on agreed targets, and develop plans for own projects.
  • Monitor and complete periodic reviews and validation master plans for the automation engineering program.
  • Demonstrate good planning, organizing, time management, and team participation skills.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
  • Generate and develop standard operating procedures and system support.
  • Analyze operational process problems and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage change control authoring and execution.
  • Participate in site and network-wide teams for cybersecurity alignment and direction.
  • Provide 24x7x365 support for automation systems and perform activities for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Modify control logic that requires scientific and/or manufacturing process expertise.
  • Communicate progress and issues clearly to peers.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience as an Automation Engineer.
  • Experience in creating SQL databases and understanding domain authentication.
  • Experience working with IT to schedule implementations and complete software installs/updates.
  • Knowledge of GMP and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Ability to read logic and perform programming, as well as update control system documentation.
  • Experience in upgrading system requirements for servers and understanding of Citrix applications.
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated utility, processing, filing, inspection, and packaging equipment.
  • Generate user requirement specifications for control systems and make minor modifications to code and HMI graphics.
