About the position

The Automation Engineer will lead the development of automation tools, templates, and workflows in accordance with the project automation plan at the Hanford Vit Plant. This role involves customizing applications, managing output data, and ensuring compliance with engineering work processes. The position offers part-time telework flexibility after initial onboarding and operates on a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and administer select Engineering applications on the project, including P&ID, SmartPlant3D, Compass, Agile, etc.
  • Implement engineering automation tools according to the project automation plan, designing/developing workflows, forms, and templates for automation tools.
  • Coordinate with construction, procurement, project controls, and other departments to establish automated data transfer between applications.
  • Understand reporting requirements for each application and configure reports accordingly, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
  • Collate performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends and use in improvements.
  • Review output data and prepare engineering reports with direction from Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager.
  • Provide training and technical support for the suite of Engineering Automation applications to field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls, and other site personnel.
  • Evaluate and coordinate the implementation of new automation modules and tools, testing and supporting data integration of new releases of production software/programs.
  • Customize applications as required by the project.
  • Prepare user guides and training material and deliver training.
  • Recommend adjustments in coordination with the Engineering Group Supervisors and Project Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Minimal supervision with some latitude for judgment.
  • Possess problem-solving responsibility while working under defined guidelines.
