About the position

As an Automation Engineer at Coherent, you will play a crucial role in the design, build, and integration of automation systems aimed at enhancing existing manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibilities will include developing, documenting, and implementing systems that automate these processes, with a strong emphasis on reliability, efficiency, ease of use, and maintainability. You will apply engineering principles to address various needs such as power, safety, and signal requirements, and will be involved in the design and fabrication of hardware and electrical components as necessary. Your expertise will also extend to developing, supporting, and advancing automation software for production use, ensuring that projects are planned and executed reliably within a multi-disciplinary team environment. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will be expected to perform, lead, or supervise troubleshooting, root-cause identification, and corrective action activities as needed. Maintaining appropriate documentation is essential, and you will be responsible for organizing and keeping up-to-date schematics, diagrams, commented code, project plans, proposals, and instructions or manuals. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and vendors to resolve functional, quality, and performance issues.
