About the position

Phillips-Medisize, LLC is seeking an Automation Engineer to support our Maumelle, Arkansas manufacturing facility. This position is crucial as it will lead the development of molding press side automation and high-volume automation assembly lines from conceptualization through all stages, including equipment procurement, installation, process development, and equipment validation in clinical builds. The Automation Engineer will work closely with a larger, cross-functional team to develop the process flow and pFMEA for the automation processes, ensuring that all aspects of the automation are thoroughly planned and executed. In this role, the Automation Engineer will manage assembly equipment procurement to ensure that design challenges are addressed and milestone dates are met. This includes providing FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) leadership at equipment vendor locations, working directly with equipment vendors and the Phillips-Medisize team to ensure that equipment meets all specifications. The engineer will document URS (User Requirement Specifications) or performance gaps and manage vendor's contingency plans to resolve possible issues before the acceptance of equipment. The position also involves managing equipment installation at the PMC facility, which includes SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), Process Development, and IQ/OQ/PQ (Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification/Performance Qualification). The Automation Engineer will engage in hands-on work with equipment to set up and troubleshoot processes during development. Additionally, the engineer will create OPWI (Operating Procedures Work Instructions) and setup work instructions for maintenance technicians and calibration departments to ensure they can operate and maintain the equipment effectively. Regular interaction with customers through project reporting is expected, as well as travel to vendors, customers, or other Phillips-Medisize facilities as needed to support business needs. The Automation Engineer will provide technical support and solutions to manufacturing processes, manage to establish yield and throughput, and drive for cost reduction and optimal quality. Furthermore, the engineer will coordinate, direct, and lead engineering efforts to ensure optimum engineering of projects/programs to meet customer and manufacturing requirements, while also facilitating and supporting facility and manufacturing safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts.
