About the position

The position involves applying mechanical, electrical, and automation skills to support the development and improvement of state-of-the-art automation equipment at Corning. Interns will work closely with technology development and engineering teams, engaging in design, experimentation, and data analysis to enhance automation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside technology development and engineering teams in the design of automation and mechanical equipment by creating CAD drawings and models.
  • Create experiment plans to evaluate system performance and test hypotheses.
  • Lead and execute experiments.
  • Collect data and perform detailed statistical analyses (descriptive statistics, process capability, linear regression analysis, etc.).
  • Develop and perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Support the integration of new Control systems equipment such as HMIs and Vision systems.
  • Deliver design solutions and write technical reports for completed work to capture insights.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering program.
  • Minimum of 2 years working toward a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles and strong design skills.
  • Computer literacy and experience with data analysis tools.
  • Ability to analyze machine, equipment, process data to uncover insights and make design decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information.
  • Result-oriented, takes strong initiative, and able to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization.
