About the position

The Automation Engineer Co-Op will support Automation projects and the Automation team during the conceptual design and basic engineering development phases, as well as general plant support. This role involves document generation, validation, drawing creation, updates, and storage, along with problem resolution. The position emphasizes individual development through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on experience, while participating in cross-functional teams to enhance technical knowledge and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Support Automation projects and the Automation team during conceptual design and basic engineering development phases.
  • Generate and validate documents, create and update drawings, and manage document storage.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve technical knowledge and effectiveness.
  • Consult with engineers to discuss or interpret design concepts and determine requirements for detailed working drawings.
  • Interact effectively with plant team members, process engineers, project managers, and contractors to achieve learning goals and share best practices.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and performance enhancements of electrical systems, recommending cost-effective solutions and repairs.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field; or an Associate's degree in Engineering/Computer Science.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel domestically.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with traditional and PLC programming languages.
  • Ability to achieve timely results while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
